From Empath to Healer; How to Stop Absorbing Other People’s Pain and Start Healing It

Rumi once wisely proclaimed that “Absorbed in this world you’ve made it your burden. Rise above the world, there is another vision.” Since all human beings are constantly experiencing some degree of intuitive guidance and spiritual energy, all human beings are endlessly absorbing and emitting energetic vibrations—which means that everyone has empathy within them, and everyone has the capability to act empathetically. Some of the benefits of being empathetic include being able to better tell when someone is speaking or acting genuine and being able to identify personal emotions more accurately.

Yet, like virtually everything else in life, there are also several negative aspects to being empathetic. For instance, empaths feel anxious and afraid when they are in the presence of too many people who are experiencing negative emotions, and in any large group of people, there are bound to be several individuals who fall into the latter category. However, there are ways that empaths can prevent themselves from being hindered by the negative emotions of other human beings, or at least there are ways of minimizing these impacts.

Barbara Marciniak argues that confidence is crucial to overcoming negative emotions: “Everything starts to change when you start to emit your own frequency rather than absorbing the frequencies around you when you start imprinting your intent on the universe rather than receiving an imprint from existence.” Empaths must avoid replicating the vibrations of unhappy people at all costs, even if these negative individuals are more assertive and forceful with their words, emotions, and actions that the empaths are with their positivity. More specifically, empaths must focus on controlling their energy better than the negative individuals around them—and they must focus on being confident in their ability to overcome external emotions.

Empaths must imprint their intentions as opposed to absorbing low vibrations of negative human beings; love and healing must be focused on until it overcomes any sensations of hate or injury. Moreover, empathetic individuals must not reply or react with validation or encouragement when they are faced with negativity; instead, understanding and complimentary support must be genuinely offered. The high road is the only road which leads to happiness and peacefulness.

The key is to respond or react in such a way that offers to understand without feeding negative thoughts, words, or actions. If this seems difficult, consciously remembering to breathe deeply and stay calm will always help, and remaining in a centered state will enable you to stay within your own field of energy. Christina Gutierrez argues that “All energy is energy and we can alchemize our pain energy into motivation and healing energy for not only ourselves but others as well.” Indeed, starting to heal and to fully release emotions enables human beings to vibrate at high frequencies; in the case of an empath, this benefits them and virtually everyone else who they interact with.

It may not be easy to implement all this advice at once, but if you can do so over time, reality should definitely become less scary and exhausting. Vibrating at high frequencies draws out negativity without allowing it to be reabsorbed, which is why so many people benefit when empaths are living happily and peacefully. Empaths are healers, so if they are allowed to do their work without too much interference, the world really can—and will—become a much happier and more peaceful place to live for all of its inhabitants.
